jabao
In the Caribbean, a jabao is someone who’s mixed black and white but still got the African features like curly hair, a wide nose, and lips that could talk back. In the US, they’d be called high-yellow, but here, they’re a whole new category.
My mom called me a jabao because I had the skin of a ghost but the hair of a wild animal.
At the beach, the guy next to me got called a jabao because he looked like he was born from a bad bet.
My teacher said I was a jabao because I had the skin of a white kid and the face of a jungle god.
