A way of saying you don't want to argue and you just let someone else get away with something.
'I'll take your word for it' when my teacher said I did my homework, even though I didn't.
'I'll take your word for it' when my friend said the bus was coming, even though it was stuck in traffic.
'I'll take your word for it' when my brother said he didn't eat my sandwich, even though it was gone.
