ha'penny
Half a penny. It’s like the smallest piece of money you can have, and it’s not even worth much. It’s like saying you’re poor but you still have to pay for things.
A kid at the store: I only have a ha'penny, but I still have to buy a candy bar.
A guy at the market: I tried to pay with a ha'penny, but the seller said it wasn’t enough.
A girl on the bus: I had a ha'penny and I still had to wait for the next bus.
