A party or gathering you would normally not go to but because of some uncontrollable circumstance you are obligated to attend. Like you have to go even if you're mad about it.
My mom forced me to go to the party even though I had a fever.
I had to go to the party because my friend was crying.
I went to the party because my dad said I had to or I'd get no dessert.
