Gairaigo
Gairaigo is when English words get smashed into Japanese like a broken toy. They’re used because Japanese can’t spell ‘laptop’ and also because everyone thinks Americans are cool, even if they sound like they’re drunk.
"My Japanese friend calls my phone a ‘ponpo’ and I don’t know what that means."
Text: "You said ‘chill’ like it was a swear word."
Tweet: "I tried to say ‘fashionable’ and it came out as ‘fasshon-ru’ and now I’m just mad."
