A heretic
A heretic is a person who doesn’t follow the rules of the church and gets in trouble for it. They might be a little crazy, but they believe strongly in their own way.
My mom thinks the church is a fraud and keeps arguing with the priest.
I got called a heretic for saying the Pope was wrong.
My friend’s dad got burned at the stake for being a heretic.
