The rule that everything in a story must be used. If it’s not used, it’s just there for no reason. It's the worst kind of rule.
Every single thing in the story had to be used, even the random hat.
They had to use every single clue, even the one about the cat.
They had to use the stupid hat, the random cat, and the weird sword.
