A fancy piece of fabric that your grandma uses to cover a lamp that doesn’t work and probably smells like mothballs. It looks good but does nothing useful. Like a pretty but useless office lady who doesn’t know how to do her job.
My grandma’s doily is so old, it probably has a will.
That doily is on my boss’s desk. He’s not even using the lamp.
The doily is still there. The lamp hasn’t worked since 1987.
